What are the tools that i need to create software for linux?

Alright, i came first from windows and mastered some of the programming languages like VB.NET, VC#, C++, and PHP. Now i am planning on migrating to linux. I know i can only continue my development with PHP. Can you please site some tools, or compilers (even if it is a new programming language) for me to develop softwares in linux?
